THE CHRISTMAS PRESENCE By Beth Kirchner December 4-6, 11-13 & 18-20 2009 This original world premiere production by the Woodford Theatre’s artistic director combines multiple holiday themes and elements into a sometimes comical, sometimes poignant story of community collaboration and Christmas spirit. Chock full of traditional holiday carols performed by a variety of quirky and compelling characters, the play joyfully explores the true nature of giving.
THE FOREIGNER By Larry Shue February 12-14, 19-21 & 26-28 2010 In this hilarious comedy, pathologically shy Charlie is brought to a resort style fishing lodge in rural Georgia in an attempt to get away from his problems. To avoid having to talk to the lodge owners and other guests, his friend introduces Charlie as a native of an exotic country who does not understand a word of English. Before long, Charlie finds himself privy to assorted secrets and scandals freely discussed in front of him by the other visitors and hilarity ensues.
ONCE UPON A MATTRESS By Mary Rodgers, Marshall Barer, Jay Thompson & Dean Fuller May 7-9, 14-16 & 21-23 2010 If you thought you knew the story of “The Princess and the Pea” you may be in for a walloping surprise! Did you know, for instance, that Princess Winnifred actually swam the moat to reach Prince Dauntless the Drab? Or that, in fact, it wasn’t the pea at all that caused the princess a sleepless night? Carried on a wave of wonderful songs, by turns hilarious and raucous, romantic and melodic, this rollicking spin on the familiar classic of royal courtship and comeuppance provides for some side-splitting shenanigans. Experience the joy of dancing while learning the basic techniques of tap in this three week class taught by our OKLAHOMA and FOOTLOOSE choreographer, Jenny Fitzpatrick.
The Woodford Theatre is holding auditions for its production of THE IMPORTANCE OF BEING EARNEST, directed by Beth Kirchner.
AUDITIONS are: Sunday, August 16th at 4:00 pm and Monday, August 17th at 7:00 pm
Auditions will be held at the Falling Springs Arts and Recreation Center Theatre on Beasley Drive in Versailles, Ky. Roles are available for 5 men and 4 women. PLEASE NOTE: You must be at least 18 to audition for this production.
PERFORMANCE dates are October 2-4, 9-11 & 16-18, 2009.
No prepared monologue is required. We will do cold readings from the script. Scripts are available for check out (with a deposit) on a first come-first serve basis at the Woodford Theatre @ Falling Springs.
